The NSL has no bearing on LGBTQ+ or sports affairs. Please respect local laws.
The National Security Law (NSL) targets activities that endanger national security (specifically Secession, Subversion, Terrorism and Collusion with foreign or external forces). It does not have any bearing on LGBTQ+ affairs nor sports.
We take advice from a global risk advisory company. The NSL has so far not caused any negative impact on individual foreign visitors. However, people who are directly involved, such as journalists or national politicians, may be refused entry into HK.
Our advice is not to forget you are a guest in Hong Kong. Be aware that certain topics are complex, media in your country may report affairs differently from the local reporting, and certain topics may be (much) more sensitive than in other societies. No matter which country you visit, you must respect the local laws. In Hong Kong, under the NSL, it is not legal to question the territorial integrity of China, especially concerning its autonomy over places like Hong Kong.
